Description

Job Title: Pastry Chef

Salary: N85,000

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for creating and executing a wide range of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods, while maintaining consistency and adhering to food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pastry artistry, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to innovate and develop new recipes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Menu Development: Create and develop innovative pastry and dessert menus that align with the restaurant’s concept and culinary vision.
  2. Production: Oversee the production of a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
  3. Recipe Creation: Develop and refine recipes for pastries and desserts, taking into account flavor profiles, texture, and visual appeal.
  4. Ingredient Management: Source and select high-quality ingredients, including seasonal fruits, chocolates, and other specialty items, while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  5. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor pastry kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the highest standards of performance and professionalism.
  6. Quality Control: Maintain strict quality control standards throughout the pastry production process, conducting regular tastings and inspections to ensure excellence in execution.
  7. Food Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  8. Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of pastry ingredients and supplies, conducting regular stock assessments and placing orders as needed to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  9. Customer Interaction: Collaborate with front-of-house staff to provide excellent customer service, answer customer inquiries, and accommodate special dietary requests or preferences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of culinary experience, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or bakery.
  • Degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or Pastry Arts is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking principles, and flavor combinations.
  • Creative flair and artistic ability to design visually stunning desserts and pastries.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership qualities, including effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in pastry production.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
