JOB TITLE: FINANCE ASSOCIATE – INTERNAL CONTROL

LOCATION: IKEJA

We are seeking a FINANCE ASSOCIATE – INTERNAL CONTROL to join our team. The Finance Associate – Internal Control will be responsible for conducting payment reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial transactions. This role involves analyzing historical payment data, identifying discrepancies, and implementing controls to improve the reconciliation process. You will collaborate with various departments to resolve issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal control systems

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities are include but are not limited to:

  • Review and analyze past payment transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify discrepancies, errors, or irregularities in payment records.
  • Reconcile payment accounts by comparing records with bank statements and invoices.
  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, and other departments to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Document findings and prepare reports for management review and audit purposes.
  • Recommend and implement controls and procedures to enhance the reconciliation process.
  • Provide training and support to staff involved in payment reconciliation.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine reconciliation procedures for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Accuracy of payment reconciliations.
  • Timeliness in completing reconciliation tasks.
  • Resolution of reconciliation discrepancies within specified timeframes.
  • Implementation of effective controls to prevent errors and fraud.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Feedback from management and stakeholders on the quality of reconciliation reports and processes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Previous experience in payment reconciliation or financial analysis, preferably in the travel industry.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
  • Minimum of 4 years of travel industry experience
  • Experience in the travel industry is advantageous, but not essential
  • Excellent written English and communication skills
  • Computer skills with standard programs like G-Suite (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs),
  • Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Solid Amadeus or similar GDS skills
